Potosi Boys And Girls Among Many To Compete At State Cross Country Meets This Weekend

(Potosi) The Potosi High School girls and boys cross country teams will be competing in the Class 3 state meet in Columbia this Saturday. The girls finished in 4th at the District meet in Cape Girardeau last Saturday and the boys placed 3rd as a team. Amanda Politte is the head coach. She tells us what the plan is this week for the Trojans.
The girls were paced by freshman Peyton Heifner who finished in 12th. Senior Alyson Skiles was 17th, junior Allison Land was 20th and senior Carlee Moss had the 24th fastest time to round out the Lady Trojans in the top-30. Politte was excited to see how well the girls ran.
The other Lady Trojans that will be running at the state meet are freshmen Makya Knoll (31st at districts) and Delaney (35th) and Avaleigh Govro (63rd).
On the boys’ side, All-District runners include senior Zeke Sisk (3rd overall), junior Alex Smith (5th) and freshman Kanaan Wilson (20th). Senior Taylen Portell (32nd), sophomore Cohen Lang (63rd) and freshmen Brayden Smith (45th) and Amontae Hill (81st) will also run at the Class Three state meet.
The state cross country meets for all classes will take place at Gans Creek in Columbia. Classes 1 and 2 will race Friday with the remaining meets happening Saturday.
