Potosi Softball Looks To Follow Up On Second Place Finish At State Last Season

(Washington County) The Potosi Trojan softball team has begun their quest to get back to Springfield and they have a new coach leading them. Mariah Coleman was appointed head coach after spending the last three years as an assistant on the varsity staff.

The Trojans opened their season at the Brookland Bearcat Blast in Jonesboro, Arkansas last weekend winning two of three games.

Three seniors are on the roster this season and two of them are returning starters. Mizzou commit and Dream Team Player of the Year Sami Huck will pitch and hit for Potosi and Chelbi Poucher will hit leadoff.

Potosi have been to Springfield in consecutive seasons, finishing third in 2019 and second in 2021 (the 2020 season was wiped out due to COVID). Coleman says making it back is the long-term goal but the Trojans need to win in the short-term.

Potosi is 3-1 on the year. The Trojans will take on Kingston Wednesday afternoon, weather pending.
