After two semifinal games were played Tuesday night on AM 800 KREI, there are just two teams remaining in District 5 softball. In our first game of the night, the Potosi Lady Trojans were able to survive against the Valle Catholic Lady Warriors. There was no score through 4 innings, until sophomore Sydney Litton broke through with the go-ahead hit.

Litton also managed to pitch 6 scoreless innings en route to Potosi winning the contest 5-1. Head coach Tyler Beers says he had flashbacks during the game to their only loss of the season, but that his team managed to pull through.

Potosi moves on to the title game Wednesday and improves to 17-1 on the year. Valle Catholic ends the season at 9-12. Game two saw the Ste. Genevieve Dragons stun the fourth-ranked Central Rebels 9-1. The Dragons used great defense early to stymie the Rebels.

Then the bats busted the game wide open.

Alyssa Huber was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game after allowing just one run on 6 hits in a complete-game effort in the circle for the Dragons. Ste. Gen head coach Russ Toombs couldn’t sing the junior’s praise enough.

While the Rebels have an 11-game win streak snapped to end their season at 17-6, the Dragons are now 15-6 and will face the Trojans for the District 5 championship Wednesday. You can hear Ste. Genevieve face Potosi with pregame coverage starting at 5:15 on J-98.
