Potosi Trojans Wrestling Season Preview

(Potosi) With the high school winter sports season on the horizon, Regional Radio caught up with the Potosi wrestling team. Micahel Huddleston is entering his fourth year as coach of the boys team and third year leading the Lady Trojans. Huddleston says this season could be a bit of a learning curve on the boys’ side.

Levi Courtney, a district medalist and conference champion, is one of two seniors on the team along with Garrett Valle. Junior Caleb Land brings a lot of experience as a 220-pound state qualifier as a freshman, and sophomore Aden Martinez is a district medalist. Huddleston says these guys are a big help in practice.

Huddleston says there’s many new faces on the team this year.

Huddleston says the girls’ team has two members this season.

There’s still a long way to go, but Huddleston has enjoyed seeing the growth of girls wrestling around the area.

The Potosi High School wrestling teams open their season Tuesday, November 30th in a tri-meet at St. James High School against the Tigers and Capital City.
