Prescription Drug Monitoring Bill Finally Passes Missouri Legislature

(Jefferson City) After years of attempts, the Missouri Legislature passed a bill today that would create a statewide prescription drug monitoring database.

The House passed the measure today.

The electronic system will collect information about controlled substance prescriptions to monitor potential cases of drug misuse.

The effort sponsored by State Senator Holly Rehder has been her priority for the past nine years.

Opponents like State Senator Mike Moon of Ash Grove worry about potential data breaches.
