Property and Real Estate tax bills coming soon

(Hillsboro) Jefferson County residents will soon be receiving their personal and real estate tax bills in the next week or two, which will need to be paid by the end of the year. The Collector’s Office continues to make things more convenient for residents to pay their bills. Michelle Worth is the Jefferson County Collector. She says those needing to pay their taxes have other options besides writing checks.

Worth says some residents who live in the same household may be receiving their bills in the same envelope.

Deputy Collector Jennifer Modray says residents have the option to pay their bills by using their phones.

Residents need to pay their personal property and real estate taxes by December 31st or pay a late fee if not postmarked prior to the 31st. Keep in mind, that December 31st will be on a Sunday this year, so make sure your check is in the mail prior to the start of that weekend. Residents still have the option to pay in person at the Jefferson County Administration Office in Hillsboro, but beware of long lines if you wait until the middle or late December.
