Property Crimes Involving Vehicles on the Rise in Herculaneum

(Herculaneum) Property crimes involving motor vehicles was a big problem in Jefferson County in 2019 and it appears that issue is carrying over into 2020.

Other than seeing a lot of reports of stolen vehicles in unincorporated portions of the county, local municipalities have also seen their fair share.

Herculaneum Police Chief Mark Tulgetske says his department has dealt with a lot of car clotting reports.

Chief Tulgetske adds don’t be a victim by not locking your vehicles at night.

Just last year the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 360 stolen vehicle reports.

Of those 360 vehicles, 305 were left unlocked and 252 were reported to have the keys left inside.
