Proposed Senate Bill Could Raise Missouri Marriage Age to 18
Missouri Republican Senator Holly Rehder is working on a bill to increase the marriage age in the state to 18. A similar bill was proposed by Democrat Senator Lauren Arthur from Kansas City. Rehder says the bills will be combined.

Rehder says that a lower marriage age can be taken advantage of by sex traffickers.

Rehder adds that most other contracts in Missouri require the signee to be a legal adult.

Rehder is optimistic that the bipartisan bill will see Governor Mike Parson’s desk soon.
