(Jefferson County) Some Jefferson County residents are expressing their frustration with the state of emergency and stay at home orders by demanding Missouri State leaders release a plan to reopen businesses and lift restrictions placed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Protesters are currently organizing a rally to take place on Monday afternoon and initiate at the commuter parking lot in Hillsboro along new Highway 21 at noon.

Rally organizers say participants will abide by social distancing guidelines as people will remain in their vehicles.

Protesters are expected to drive on a route past the Jefferson County health department and the county’s administrative building on Maple Street, honking their horns as well as waiving signs.

According to supporters, the county and state’s stay at home orders have served their purpose and they don’t want to see people and/or businesses fall victim to poverty.

This protest rally is one of many protests that have been organized throughout the country demanding government officials reopen the country.
