Rebels Extend Win Streak To 19 Games, Take Class 4 District 2 Championship 11-3 Over Potosi

(Ste. Genevieve) The #2 Central Rebels won the Class 4 District 2 Championship game 11-3 over the #4 Potosi Trojans Tuesday night on J98. It’s the Rebels first district championship since 2014.

Central led 4-1 in the top of the third but Potosi kept inching back…

Potosi made it a 4-3 ball game after three innings but they wouldn’t score again. After chasing Nate Hamski out of the game, senior Brendon Jenkins came in relief for Central and threw 4 innings giving up no hits and just one walk. Central ended up scoring in 5 of the 6 innings they went to the plate.

Central will play in the Class 4 State Quarterfinals next Tuesday against the winner of Kennett and Cape Notre Dame. They’ll battle for the Class 4 District 1 Championship Wednesday afternoon. The Rebels improve to 20-3. Potosi won 6 of their final 8 games to finish with a record of 11-18-1.
