(Licking) The Central Rebels volleyball team went to the Licking Tournament on Saturday and left as champions.
The Rebels lost their first match of pool play but won their next three.
After beating Liberty in the semifinals in two sets (25-22, 27-25), coach Olivia Casey says her team started slow in the championship match against Salem.
It was an all-around team effort but Casey wanted to give some shine to a few of her players.
Central had lost three of their last four matches prior to Saturday. Casey says her team showed up ready to play in Licking.
Consistency had been an issue for this Rebel squad throughout the season. Casey tells us about the importance of putting together a string of wins and a tournament championship at the tail end of the season.
The Rebels are 16-10 on the season. They’ll face Potosi Tuesday evening.
