(Wappapello) A special deer hunt for the disabled community is coming up this fall in the Lake Wappapello area.
Andrew Jefferson has the details. He’s a park ranger with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the lake in southern Wayne County.
25 hunters with mobility impairments will be given the opportunity to go out and try to harvest a deer.
The hunters meet and camp together for the weekend and enjoy good food and good camaraderie.
This event is held in partnership with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Wake Foundation, the Missouri Department of Conservation and local volunteers from the Lake Wappapello area.
