Remembering the Detter family

(DeSoto) A fatal fire in DeSoto early Sunday morning took the life of Joe and Francis Detter, as well as family members Sherri and Kerri Detter. Joe served as the Building Inspector for the City of Hillsboro and was a fixture in the community. Hillsboro Mayor Buddy Russell says it’s a difficult loss for everyone.

Russell says Joe was part of a great team in the city.

Local Attorney Steve Davis, who lives in DeSoto, knew the family well….

Davis says he and Joe were both members of the DeSoto Lions Club.

Two other members of the family were injured but were able to escape the fire. The fire took place early Sunday morning at their home on Vineland School Road. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
