Renee S. Roehrs-Bates of Festus passed away on Saturday at the age of 47. She graduated college with three Bachelor Degrees and spent 28 years in the education field, 14 years as an elementary teacher in the Dunklin R-5 District, and 14 as a Southeast Missouri region Field Service Representative for the Missouri State Teachers Association (MSTA). She was a member of the MSTA, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, a former Brownie Troop Leader, member of Our Lady Church in Festus and former member of Zion Lutheran Church in Pevely.

She is survived of her husband of 24 years, Matthew Bates, daughter; Amanda Laura Bates, sisters Sandy Scroggins of Springfield, Cindy Lucas of Festus, and Sandy Caldwell of Tennessee, brothers; James Scroggins of Festus and Tommir Scroggins of Festus, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A memorial mass for Renee Roehrs-Bates will be Friday morning at 11 Our Lady Church in Festus.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday morning from 10 until the time of the mass at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
