Representative Henderson Becomes Speaker Pro-Tem

 

(Jefferson City) And with that, on Wednesday’s opening day of the 2023 legislative session at the state capitol in Jefferson City, Mike Henderson of Desloge accepted the challenge of holding one of the major leadership positions in the Missouri House of Representatives.

After the oath, Henderson addressed the chamber with a five minute speech.

Henderson talked about the desire of having a successful legislative session this year and next.

For this year, republicans once again have the majority in the House and Senate.

The G.O.P. controls the House with 105 of the 153 seats and in the Senate, there are 24 republicans to only 10 democrats.

Wednesday’s activities also included swearing-in of newly-elected legislators with 2023 including the most women to ever serve in the Missouri Legislature.
