Representative McGirl Discusses Tax Refunds that Still have Not Been Paid by the State
(Potosi) Thousands of Missourians would like the State Department of Revenue to get their act together and pay them their tax refunds from 2018 and believe it or not, some still have not received state tax refunds from 2017.
In fact, the head of the revenue department does not even have specifics on how many people they still owe.
They have estimated it could be somewhere between 5 and 10-thousand individuals who are still owed.
State Representative Mike McGirl of Potosi says he’s heard complaints from people in his district, the 118th, which covers parts of Washington and Jefferson counties.
Representative McGirl says he sure would not want to be one of the leaders of the Department of Revenue who will be facing the wrath of the Missouri House and Senate sometime during this current legislative session.
The delay in paying these tax refunds has already cost the State of Missouri an extra 2-million dollars in interest.
In the meantime, some individuals are already preparing their taxes for 2019 which need to be sent in by April 15th.
