Representative McGirl Provides Latest on $150-Million State Overpayment of Unemployment Funds

(Jefferson City) A major goof-up by the State of Missouri has overpaid unemployment funds to Missourians not working during the pandemic by around 150-million dollars and now the State Legislature is trying to figure out what to do about it.

The House Committee for Government Oversight held a hearing last week on the matter at the Capitol in Jefferson City.

We spoke to State Representative Mike McGirl of Potosi about it.

We asked McGirl, once they find out who is responsible for this massive overpayment of state funds, if that person or persons should lose their job.

Representative McGirl says a decision on full repayment, partial repayment or no repayment of these funds will be made once the full Missouri House and Senate debate the matter.
