Richwoods man charged after police standoff

A Richwoods man has been hit with several charges after a standoff with Washington County police.
42-year-old Matthew Boyster has been charged with first-degree felony assault; domestic assault; resisting arrest; 2 counts of armed criminal action and 3 counts of felony unlawful use of a weapon.
The charges stem from a January 12th incident where a sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a house on Clear Creek Road for reports of shots fired.
It was also reported Boyster had threatened to kill a woman with whom he had a previous relationship.
Police set up a perimeter around the residence and ordered Boyster out of the house unarmed, but Boyster instead made multiple threats to shoot officers.
He finally surrendered to law enforcement after an hour of negotiation.
Boyster has been detained at the Washington County jail and has a hearing Tuesday to potentially reduce his cash-only bond of $150,000.
