(SALEM, Mo.) – A man from Salem has been charged in connection with an incident from this past Sunday afternoon in which he allegedly got drunk and struck another man with a baseball bat.

Salem News Online reports that 28-year old Daniel Shaver is looking at charges of first-degree assault and armed criminal action.

According to the alleged victim, Shaver showed up to a home on the 1800 block of South Oak Street intoxicated and then struck the man on his shoulder with the aluminum bat.

The man tried to fight him off, and eventually Shaver tossed the bat at him before exiting.

Shaver was soon after pulled over, and admitted to the altercation.

Officers also initiated a test of Shaver’s breath, which showed his alcohol level to be well over the legal limit at .257 during the traffic stop.

Shaver is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.
