(FESTUS, Mo.) –  The championship games are set in Class 3 District 3 on the boys and girls side after the semifinals wrapped up last Wednesday night from Jefferson R-7 High School.

Our first game of the night featured a low scoring boys basketball affair between the first-seeded St. Pius Lancers and the fifth-seeded Arcadia Valley Tigers.

The contest was tied at 30 entering the 4th, but Lancers junior Josh Ruble drained a huge three to give St. Pius the lead for good.

The Lancers won 38-32 and Ruble scored 13 points to lead all scorers. He was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.
Lancers head coach Eric Lawrence says that Ruble rose to the occasion.

St. Pius improves to 20-7 on the year and advances to play the Jefferson Bluejays Friday in the Class 3, District 3 championship game. Arcadia Valley finishes their season at 12-16.
In the first girls semifinal match of the night, the first-seeded Saxony Lutheran Crusaders defeated the fourth-seeded Herculaneum Blackcats 50-37. Herculaneum started the game on a 7-0 run but fell behind at the end of the first 11-10.

The Blackcats would trail by as little as three late in the fourth when Saxony would come up with a pair of big time threes for the Gilster Mary Lee Play of the Game.

The Crusaders improved to 21-7 to reach the title game while Herculaneum ends its season at 16-10.
In the final game of the night, the third-seeded Arcadia Valley Tigers girls basketball team set the nets on fire in a 85-54 victory over the second-seeded West County Bulldogs.

Senior Jaesa Brockes went on a scoring frenzy, totaling the first 10 points for the Tigers on the night.

Brockes had 23 points at halftime, finishing with 29. She was our Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game.
Arcadia Valley head coach Stan Whited was happy to avenge two regular season losses to West County.
