Seckman Girls Basketball Looking Strong Through One-Third of the 2019-20 Season

(IMPERIAL) The Seckman girls basketball team is off to a 5-1 start this season with its only defeat a 1-point loss to Farmington in the DeSoto Fountain City Classic.

Lady Jaguar head coach Brian Metteer is happy with the 5-1 start but knows that great challenges lie ahead.

All of those teams that Coach Metteer mentioned currently have a combined win-loss record of 38-11. And to add to that, on Thursday, the Lady Jaguars will be facing this season’s Central Christmas Tournament champion in the undefeated Ste. Genevieve Dragons.

One thing that really pops out about the stats so far for Seckman is the team’s habit of sharing the scoring. Outside of 15-points-a-game Makayla Parton, the Lady Jags have four girls averaging around 7 points a game. Coach Metteer is happy about that.

According to Coach Metteer, one of the seniors that has taken a big step forward this season is Brianna Mercer.

The next game for the Seckman Lady Jaguars is Monday night at home at 7 against Marquette.
