Seckman softball starts over with young team in 2020

(Imperial) A team chock full of seniors came up just short for Seckman softball in 2019.

The Jaguars reached their district championship game but lost to rival Northwest.

Now, with only 4 returning varsity players, head coach Steve Bonastia says they are essentially starting over.

Junior Jamey Johnson and sophomores Abby Harvell and Josie Lindsey return and are expected to be the driving force of the lineup.

Bonastia also says lone senior Sophie Greenfield will play a bigger role than ever.

But, with a brand-new pitching rotation and plenty of new starters, Bonastia is concerned with his squad getting the fundamentals right.

Seckman opens the 2020 fall softball season against Holt at home on Tuesday.
