(IMPERIAL) Seckman wrestling head coach Ryan Moyer and his team are bound and determined this season to win a team state championship and have a 2016 and 2017 champion, 2017 3rd-place finisher, and 2017 4th-place finisher all returning to the mat to do just that.

The 120-pound state champion from last year and the 113-pound state champion from 2016 is Kai Orine and coach Moyer says he had a pretty good offseason.

Great self-awareness is what Moyer likes the most about Orine.

The 3rd-place state finisher for Seckman last year was Skyler Akers, who coach Moyer says has an unorthodox style which makes him especially tough to beat.

Then there is Jeremy Ashlock. Jeremy went from qualifying for state his sophomore year but not placing, then improving on that by taking 4th in his junior season.

Seckman beat conference opponent Eureka 54-12 on Wednesday. Then on Friday, they wrestled Belleville East, Quincy, and Francis Howell Central in the 45th Annual Fox “Ron Sauer” Duals. Seckman outscored all three schools, beating Belleville 57-18, Quincy 59-19, and FHC 54-30.
