SEMO Family Violence Council Headed To Jefferson City

(Bonne Terre) Officials with the Southeast Missouri Family Violence Council will be in Jefferson City this month to visit with area legislators. Tracy Carroll is the assistant director at the shelter. She says they are trying again this year to get support for legislation that would waive the fees for domestic violence survivors to get a copy of their birth certificates.

Carroll and Stephanie Bennett actually came up with the idea for the bill four years ago, but it hasn’t made it through yet. The two will be in Jefferson City on Wednesday, February 23rd to gather support for their proposal, Chris Dinkins is sponsoring the bill in the House.
