Sheriff Dave Marshak on new JCSO Jail location

(Hillsboro) Last week, the Jefferson County Council voted in favor of purchasing land in Hillsboro for the future site of the Jefferson County jail. The property is located along Old Highway 21 and is near the Jefferson County Juvenile Detention Center. Sheriff Dave Marshak says this was a good move for many reasons.

Sheriff Marshak says the property, which is a little over 15 acres, will have the space for the jail, and a much-needed crime lab.

Jefferson County will pay $425,000 for the property. The next step is finding the funding to build the jail, and there is currently no date to break ground.
