(Hillsboro) Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak continues to stress the importance of residents leaving themselves open to becoming a victim by not simply keeping their vehicles and house doors locked at all times….especially overnight. The incident that took place in Imperial last week involving a suspect firing handgun at a homeowner also proved the point of how these criminals are not afraid to take it the extreme to escape. Sheriff Marshak says most recently, it has become a group of individuals working together and are responsible for over 40 vehicle breaks ins.

Sheriff Marshak says Jefferson County is not the only area in the region having these issues, it’s happening all over.

Sheriff Marshak reminds residents to keep their vehicles and homes locked at all times. If anyone has information on the latest string of vehicle break-ins especially in the northern end of the county to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department or your local municipal police department.
