(Hillsboro) Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak spent time in Jefferson City last week meeting with members of the Missouri Legislature on proposed bills that deal with law enforcement. One of those is Senate Bill 60 which will outlaw the use of “chokeholds” unless it comes as a last resort tactic by the law enforcement official. State Senator Brian Williams of St. Louis filed the bill. Sheriff Marshak says he’s on board with it.
Sheriff Marshak says the other piece of legislature is House Bill 998 filed by Representative Bruce DeGroot of Ellisville. He says it also involves the “use of force”.
On Tuesday, House Bill 998 was referred to the Rules and Administrative Oversight Committee.
