Sheriff Marshak on protesting vs. looting

There has been a mix of both peaceful protesting and looting and destruction resulting from the death of George Floyd recently. St. Louis City and County have seen both over several nights with strict curfews put into place. Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Marshak says if peaceful protesting comes to our area, he’s all about supporting it.

However, if protesting would turn violent, Sheriff Marshak says his office is ready to step in.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies helped to assist the Festus and Crystal City Police departments on Saturday afternoon during a peaceful protest was held at the Festus Public Library.
