Shuman shines as Hillsboro hoses down Jefferson on KJFF

(Sauget, IL) A senior star showed up in a big way to help the Hillsboro Hawks beat the Jefferson Blue Jays 5-2 Wednesday on KJFF.

Shortstop Noah Shuman came up with big swings for the Hawks right away.

Jefferson tied the game in the bottom of the first, but after Hillsboro retook the lead, Shuman made sure they got some cushion with the Gilster Mary Lee Drive of the Game.

Even when he went into the field to play defense, Shuman still made big plays.

Shuman was the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game with a homer, a double and 3 runs batted in.

Hawks head coach Kevin Lucas said Shuman is a player capable of great things at the plate.

Hillsboro finishes the regular season with a record of 8-16, while Jefferson has a 7-game winning streak to fall to 13-8.

The Hawks will start the postseason by facing DeSoto in the Class 5 District 1 quarterfinals, while the Blue Jays take on Grandview in the Class 3 District 4 semifinals on Monday.

You can hear the Jefferson game Monday night on AM 1400 KJFF.
