Sidewalk issue after train derailment in Festus

The train derailment in Festus that took place a few weeks ago has been cleaned up and traffic is back to normal. However, after Union Pacific finished the repair work near the railroad crossing on Old Highway A near Crites Memorial Park, a problem with the sidewalk at that intersection came to light. Festus City Administrator Greg Camp explains….

There is no timeframe of when the sidewalk will be repaired. Meanwhile, residents may have noticed the railroad crossing over North Mill Street was closed for a few days for some repairs. Camp says that an unscheduled repair project may have been set up as a precaution as a result of the derailment.

The work was completed after a few days and is back open to traffic.
