(Jefferson County) Winter ushers in the slow season for local farmers as cold temperatures, ice and snow limit what they can grow. This doesn’t mean farmers are sitting still though, they still have events they can go to and learn new things that may improve their farm. Debi Kelly, a field specialist of horticulture with the University of Missouri Extension office in Jefferson County, explains why winter is the best time for these events.

The Extension website has a list of the upcoming events.
