South Iron To Play For 3rd Straight Class 1 Boys Basketball State Title

(Springfield) The #2 South Iron Panthers will play for their third straight state championship after a 65-49 win in the Class 1 state semifinal over #1 Platte Valley at Great Southern Bank Arena in Springfield on J-98.

The game was deadlocked at the end of the first quarter 11-11.

South Iron began the second quarter with a 13-0 run to start the second and never gave up the lead.

The Burse brothers scored all 13 in the burst….

Martez scored 27 in the game with 11 rebounds. Marquis scored 12.
Platte Valley cut the lead to five in the third frame when Kolton Dinkins knocked down a three to push it back to double figures…

Dinkins hit four threes in the game and scored 14 points.

The Panthers closed strong pushing the lead to 18 in the forth quarter…

South Iron outrebounded the Eagles 40-28.
South Iron coach Dusty Dinkins was proud of the win, but even more proud of the effort…

Coach Dinkins wasn’t surprised to see different players step us at different times of the game.

27-4 South Iron goes to the title game a against 21-10 St. Elizabeth. They beat Glasgow 60-52 in the other semifinal game.

Platte Valley will play  Glasgow for third place in State basketball in boys Class 1.
