South Iron Boys and Girls Travel To Van Buren For Class 1 State Quarterfinals

(Annapolis) The South Iron Panthers boys and girls basketball squads will be heading to Van Buren High School tomorrow for the Class 1 State Quarterfinals. The first game of the day is a rematch from last year’s quarterfinal matchup as the 26-1 South Iron Lady Panthers go head-to-head with the 26-1 Delta Bobcats. South Iron won 65-63 last time and Head Coach Lawrence Graves says there are some takeaways from that victory.

Coach Graves knows what is at stake tomorrow for him and his Lady Panthers.

For the 25-4 boys team, they will take on the 21-6 Leopold Wildcats immediately after the girl’s game from Van Buren High School. Head Coach Dusty Dinkins says that the Wildcats have some talent on the court.

South Iron is getting their opponents’ best shots in the latter half of the season, dropping games to Fatima and Steelville and having a hard-fought battle with Bunker in the district championship. Coach Dinkins says his team is getting better because of it.

The Class 1 State Quarterfinals from Van Buren can be heard tomorrow on J98 or streaming online at MyMoInfo.com starting with the Fliegs Equipment Pregame Show at 12:45.
