South Iron Boys Back to Final Four, Girls Fall in Quarters

(Van Buren) The South Iron boys bid to repeat as Class One state champions remains alive as the Panthers defeated Leopold 74-39 in the quarterfinal in Van Buren.

The 3rd ranked South Iron girls also tried to get back to the final four, but fell short against 4th ranked Delta 62-48 in a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal that South Iron won by two. Delta shot well early and took a double digit lead in the first half, but Maddie Ayers gave the Panthers momentum going into the locker room…

Enzley Dinkins led South Iron with 19 points and got them as close as they would get in the second half…

Coach Lawrence Graves says his team gave great effort even if the final result was disappointing…
