South Iron Boys Basketball Has Eyes on the Prize in 2020-2021 Season

(Annapolis) The South Iron boys basketball program has been one of the most dominant in the state over the past two seasons piling up 59 wins compared to just 6 losses. While they’ve won back to back district titles, they’ve been unable to get past the state sectional round losing to Risco in overtime 63-62 in 2019 and the eventual Class 1 state champs Dora 59-54 last season. The positive though after going 29-1 a season ago is that the Panthers return four of their five starters and fill in that fifth spot with 6’4″ senior Marco Burse who was hurt most of last season. Head coach Dusty Dinkins says the aspirations in Annapolis are as high as ever with this group.

After only losing one game last year we wondered what coach Dinkins wants this year’s squad to improve upon. He says he can evaluate that a little better after the start of the season.

South Iron has started the 2020-2021 campaign winning the AV Thanksgiving Tournament for the third straight year with wins over Bismarck, Ellington and Bunker. The Panthers are also averaging almost 91 points per contest while only allowing 32 to opponents.
