South Iron Girls and Boys Basketball Ready for First Round of Class 1 State Tournament

Girls Preview

(Mountain Grove, Mo.) The Class 1 State Tournament gets underway tonight on J-98 as both the South Iron boys and girls teams travel to Mountain Grove for sectional play. The Lady Panthers kick off our coverage at 5:45 when they take on the Norwood Lady Pirates who won the District 4 title over Chadwick 46-37. South Iron took down the #9 Eminence Redwings 55-33 to win the District 3 title for the 4th straight year. Head coach Lawrence Graves says the team’s perimeter defense is going to have to be top notch against the Lady Pirates.

The #3 South Iron Lady Panthers come into the game with a 23-4 record while the Norwood Lady Pirates are 20-7. Coverage between the Lady Panthers and Lady Pirates will begin at 5:45 with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show on J-98.

Boys Preview

The second match up of the night will feature the top two teams in Class 1 in the state. The South Iron Panthers are 29-0 on the season and #1 in the state while the Dora Falcons are 28-2 and finished as runner-ups last season in the Class 1 tournament. The #2 Falcons have the Class 1 player of the year from last season in Isaac Haney and head coach Dusty Dinkins says you also have to worry about the rest of the starters with this team.

South Iron’s 2019 season was ended by the Risco Tigers who fell to Dora in the quarterfinals last season 74-37. Coverage of the Panthers and Falcons will begin on J-98 as soon as the first game of the night between the South Iron Lady Panthers and the Norwood Lady Pirates concludes.
