(Caledonia, Mo.) In the first game on the girls’ side of the bracket at the Valley Caledonia Tournament on the MyMoInfo SportsStream, it was the Lesterville Bearcats defeating the Jefferson BlueJays by a final score of 60-48 to claim third place in the tournament.

The Bearcats got off to a fast start in the game thanks to an 11-point first quarter from Reese Gray.

Gray was named the Applebee’s of Farmington Player of the Game after finishing with 20 points in the contest. Then in the fourth quarter, Lesterville began to pull away.

Bearcats head coach Melissa St. Gemme says once they were able to figure out Jefferson’s defense they capitalized.

Lesterville improves to 4-2 with the victory in the third place game while Jefferson falls to 2-2.

In the girls championship of the Valley Caledonia Tournament, the South Iron Panthers rolled to a 49-35 victory over the West County Bulldogs to take home the hardware.

After a slow start for both sides, it was South Iron’s Madison Ayers who sparked the offense in the second quarter.

Then in the second half, it was Ayers once again with the sharp shooting to extend the Panthers’ lead.

South Iron head coach Lawrence Graves says defense paved the way for victory.

South Iron improves to 3-0 with the win while West County falls to 2-1.
