(CALEDONIA) A slow start and low-scoring affair saw the top-seeded South Iron Panthers advance past the No. 4 seed Jefferson Blue Jays 39-26 tipping-off J98’s coverage of the 28th Annual Valley Caledonia Basketball Tournament.

South Iron jumped out early doubling Jefferson 12-6. Despite the Blue Jays’ best efforts to keep pace, Jada Brooks kept her Panthers squad comfortably ahead.

Brooks scored a game-high 14 points. Hannah Becker led Jefferson with 11.

Panthers head coach Lawrence Graves says the shot selection was good, especially with his leading scorer in the post.

The Blue Jays (1-1) looks to secure a third place finish in the tournament on Thursday, while The No. 1 Panthers (2-1) advance to the championship game. Both games will be featured on J98.
