South Iron Volleyball Sweeps Summersville In Class One Sectionals, Will Face Northwest (Hughesville) In State Semifinals On Friday

(Annapolis) The South Iron High School volleyball team will compete for a state championship this weekend. The Panthers won their Class One sectional match on Saturday in straight sets over Summersville (25-19, 25-20, 25-16). Head coach Megan Williams takes us through the moments after the Panthers won.

Coach Williams says they controlled the first couple of sets but found themselves trailing in set three, similar to their quarterfinal win over New Haven.

Williams says the atmosphere in the South Iron High School gym was amazing.

South Iron (21-9-4) will face the Northwest (Hughesville) Mustangs in the Class One semifinals Friday evening at 6 o’clock at the Show-Me Center in Cape Girardeau. The Mustangs (30-2-2) are champions of Class One District 14 and are making their first appearance in the final four. South Iron finished in 4th place in 2021. Coach Williams takes us through the plan for the week.

The Class One state championship will be Saturday afternoon at 4 o’clock. The 3rd place game is Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The other semifinal is between Galena and Advance. If South Iron wins Friday evening, J-98 will broadcast the Class One state championship on Saturday.
