(ANNAPOLIS, Mo.) – This year’s South Iron Panthers boys basketball team featured tons of young talent, including freshman Drenin Dinkins who earned a spot on the Regional Radio Dream Team. Dinkins averaged more than 20 points per game in his first varsity season and scored a total of 560 points, the eighth-most points scored by a freshman in Missouri state history. Dinkins said his team couldn’t have accomplished their goals without the leadership of their seniors.
Dinkins is now the second-straight South Iron freshman to make the Dream Team, as his teammate Brock Wakefield earned a spot last season and also joined him on the team this year.
Dinkins said his dad and head coach Dusty Dinkins has been a big influence on his growth in the sport.
The Panthers finished 23-5 this season and earned their first district title since 2015.
