Special election will decide Dunklin school board member
(Herculaneum, Pevely) There will be a special election next month to determine a member of the Dunklin R-5 School Board of Education. The General Municipal election held earlier this month resulted in a tie for the final spot on the board, and a recount by the Jefferson County Elections Authority showed no change. Dunklin R-5 Communications Coordinator Matt Lichtenstein says the district decided to hold an election to decide the school board member.
John A. Maddox and Jared Engelbach both received 449 votes for the second position on the board while Marissa Newman received the most votes with 504. A decision from the Dunklin R-5 School Board on how many voting locations will be available will be determined at their next meeting on Tuesday night. Again the date for the Dunklin R-5 School Board special election will be on Tuesday, May 17th.
