(HILLSBORO) The Mississippi Area Red Conference title is on the line Friday night in Hillsboro as the 2-4 Hawks welcome in the 4-2 DeSoto Dragons on AM 1400 KJFF. DeSoto is seeking its first conference crown since 2010 while the Hawks are looking for their second share of the conference crown in the last 3 years. It is also Homecoming for Hillsboro.

Head Coach Lee Freeman sees that DeSoto right now is playing with a great passion that makes them a dangerous opponent.

Last season, DeSoto ended an 11-game drought against the Hawks with a 14-8 victory in DeSoto. Coach Freeman responded to being asked whether or not there’s an “edge” about his guys as they prepare to take back bragging rights.

Coach Freeman added that he believes if his guys can run the football, control the clock, and not turn it over, they have a good chance of success.

As for the Dragons, they have combined to score 72 points in their last two wins. Head Coach Chris Johnson says that the offense has been a work-in-progress this year but attributes time, practice, and game experience to its most recent success.

Coach Johnson addresses the thought about the amplified intensity the Hawks will surely bring playing at home against a rival on Homecoming Night.

DeSoto and Hillsboro are set for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Friday on AM 1400 KJFF.
