St. Francois County Murderer Dies In Prison

(St. Francois County) The Missouri Department of Corrections reports that a St.Francois County man serving a life sentence for murder has died in prison.

Jeffrey Thurman was pronounced dead last Friday at the Potosi Correctional Center.

According to FOX News, he had pled guilty in 2007 to the beating death of Ricky Haynes and accepted a life sentence without parole so the state would not seek the death penalty.

Thurman’s attorneys argued that he was not eligible for the death penalty because of mental impairment.

David Bradley was also convicted for murder involving the death of Haynes.

Thurman admitted to helping Bradley commit the murder. Haynes disappeared in January of 2007.

Thurman eventually helped police find the body. He also confessed to choking Haynes and stomping his head.
