St. Francois County Relay For Life Gets “Retired”

(St. Francois County) After well over 20 years, the St. Francois County Relay for Life has been retired. That’s according to an email from the American Cancer Society to members of the local relay committee. Glenda Straughn has been a member of the St. Francois County Relay committee for 20 years. She was sad to hear the news.

Straughn was a member of the Turner Chevrolet team, which has been recognized numerous times for their fundraising efforts, however, she prefers to give the credit to another team to helping them achieve their goals.

Well over two million dollars was raised over the years for the fight against cancer by the St. Francois County Relay for Life. The American Cancer Society says COVID-19 and the budget cuts it created are the reason behind no longer doing this relay event. Hear more with Straughn below.
