St. Louis Lawmakers Upset With Bonne Terre Prison

(Bonne Terre) A pair of Missouri lawmakers from St. Louis are claiming they were “unlawfully” banned from entering the Bonne Terre state prison the same day as a prisoner execution.

Representatives Kimberly-Ann Collins and Marlon Anderson said the Department of Corrections broke state law by not allowing them to enter the prison the day the state was scheduled to execute Ernest Lee Johnson for a 1994 triple murder.

The D-O-C said both lawmakers arrived “unannounced” on Tuesday at a time when the facility was in lockdown, and the state’s protocol for a court-ordered execution was activated.
