St. Pius’ Agers completes career like few others with softball Dream Team honors

(Festus) Few athletes have been able to have the impact that A.J. Agers left on the St. Pius Lancers.

Agers was a multi-sport star, but she shined brightest in softball, where she earned a spot on the Regional Radio Dream Team.

Agers was almost unstoppable at the plate, posting a .696 batting average, 20 extra-base hits, 3 home runs and 23 runs batted in.

But those kind of eye-popping numbers is something Agers says she strives for.

For all her success with the bat, Agers was arguably even better as a pitcher.

The conference pitcher of the year had a minuscule 0.93 earned-run average and struck out 145 batters in a 10-win senior season.

She says she had to learn a lot about the art of pitching during her time at St. Pius.

Agers also walked away as one of the all-time leading scorers in Lancers’ girls’ basketball history, and she was all-conference in the JCAA in girls’ soccer.

But the future basketball player at Missouri S&T says she had plenty of help.

Agers was named all-state in Class 2 fall softball for the second time this season, and she made it all 4 years where she was named all-conference and all-district.
