(Caruthersville, Mo) The St. Pius football team is on the road for Class 2 District 1 Semifinal action tonight as they travel to Caruthersville to take on the Tigers on the MyMoInfo SportsStream.

The Lancers (9-2) and Tigers (9-2) have only faced once before back in the 2013 playoffs with Caruthersville winning by a final score of 12-6 at home.

St. Pius head coach Dan Olver says having just played a speedy Jefferson R7 team, he hopes that will have helped his team be prepared for the speed of Caruthersville.

Oliver says Caruthersville certainly presents a difficult challenge but believes the Lancers won’t back down given the quality opponents they have faced all season long.

In order to come out victorious tonight, Oliver says the key for his team will be for the offense to keep pace with the defense.

Caruthersville has been dominant on both sides of the ball at times this season and head coach Jimmy Jackson says they have playmakers across the board who contribute.

Jackson says from what he’s seen on film and heard from other coaches, he expects the Lancers to play hard from start to finish.

In terms of what Caruthersville needs to do to obtain a victory tonight, Jackson says they just need to play their game and have fun.

Coverage of St. Pius and Caruthersville begins tonight at 6 with the Flieg’s Equipment Pregame Show on the MyMoInfo SportsStream which can be accessed on our website at mymoinfo.com or on our YouTube channel ‘MyMoInfo Sports‘.
