St. Pius Beats Grandview 39-6

 

(Festus)  The St. Pius Lancers will go on the road to play Duchense in the next round of the state football playoffs following their 39-6 win over Grandview Friday night. The Lancers scored first in the game with a 50 yard pass from James Smith to Conner Hamilton.

The TD Came at 6:10 to play in the first quarter.

 

 

The Lancers expanded their lead to 21-0 at halftime.

Grandview got on the board with with 4:48 to play in the third on a 27 yard pass from Jacob Walker to Travis Hoskins.

The Lancer’s James Smith started the game at quarterback after sitting out several games due to a broken collarbone. Sophomore Brennan Ervin replaced Smith at quarterback late in the game. St. Pius head coach Dan Oliver says Grandview stayed after the Lancers in the second half.

 

Eagles head coach Jason Kiminau had plenty of praise for the two Grandview seniors, Austin Blankenship and Jayce Poole.

 

The Eagles end their season with a record of 3-7. St. Pius improves to 8-2 and will play the 5-4 Duchesne Pioneers on the Pioneers home turf in St. Charles next Friday night. Top seeded Duchesne had a “bye” this week.
