St. Pius Gets Seal of Biliteracy

(FESTUS)    St. Pius X High School is being honored with the Missouri Seal of Biliteracy. The Missouri Seal of Biliteracy is a state-wide policy commitment meant to encourage school districts to include language education in their preschool to postsecondary quality program design. It is a strategy of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to provide students with opportunities to further their college and/or career goals.

St. Pius President Jim Lehn says he’s proud the school is being honored.

Lehn acknowledges the two Spanish teachers at St. Pius.

According to Cammy Goucher a spokeswoman for DESE, bilingualism is known to improve cognition, behavior, and problem-solving skills which can lead to additional career opportunities when students enter the workforce.
