(New Haven) It’s win-or-go-home time in Missouri high school fall softball, as the district playoffs are underway this week.
And the Jefferson County Game of the Week will pit a pair of crosstown rivals against each other with their seasons on the line, as the Jefferson Blue Jays face the St. Pius Lancers Wednesday on KJFF.
After a 11-1 win over Hermann in the first round of the Class 2 District 4 tournament Tuesday, St. Pius is now 10-3 this season behind star senior A.J. Agers.
Agers is batting well over .600 and also has an earned-run average under 1 while pitching every inning for the second-seeded Lancers.
But Pius head coach Kevin Halley says everyone being fully rested and ready to go matters for his team’s chances.
Jefferson knocked off Louisiana 11-3 Tuesday to end a 4-game losing streak and improve to 7-13 behind the power-hitting tandem of Cami Menke and Catryn Cattoor.
The number-three-seed Blue Jays put up a good fight when they met St. Pius in the regular season but fell 3-0.
R-7 head coach Robert Kuehnle says they have find a way to score some runs this time.
St. Pius has beaten Jefferson in each of the last 5 meetings.
This time, the Blue Jays meet the Lancers for a spot in the Class 2 District 4 championship game.
It’s the Jefferson County Game of the Week, with coverage starting at 5:45 Wednesday evening on AM 1400 KJFF.
